NCPA Foundation Welcomes Two New Board Members

The National Community Pharmacy Association Foundation recently announced the appointment of Brian Caswell, RPh, and Hugh Chancy, RPh, to its Board of Trustees.

“We are thrilled to welcome Brian and Hugh to the NCPA Foundation Board,” said Jerry Shapiro, President of NCPA Foundation. “Their deep commitment to community pharmacy and their extensive experience will be invaluable assets as we continue to advance our mission of supporting the growth and sustainability of independent community pharmacists across the nation.”

Caswell, a 30+ year pharmacy owner in Baxter Springs, KS, is past president of the NCPA and Kansas Pharmacists Association, and a distinguished alumnus of the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy. A lifelong learner with a passion for community service, he is known for his dedication to his patients and his commitment to independent community pharmacy. As an owner of four pharmacies in southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri, Caswell has been a tireless advocate for the independent pharmacy owner.

“The legacy of the NCPA Foundation and its service and education to the profession of pharmacy along with recognizing the unique blend of professional and business acumen within our communities, is unmatched,” said Caswell, upon accepting his nomination to the board. “I am excited to join in with my colleagues in furthering the foundations goals and to assist our pharmacy brethren when they meet challenges due to disaster and unforeseen events.”

Chancy also has a long and distinguished career in pharmacy. He is past president of NCPA and Georgia Pharmacy Association, is the owner of Chancy Drugs in Hahira, GA, and currently serves as chairman-elect for the Academy of Independent Pharmacy in Georgia.

The Chancys are a three-generation pharmacist family, serving their community for more than 50 years. Currently comprised of six full-service community pharmacies, Chancy Drugs currently employs over 100 people across South Georgia. Hugh is deeply involved in his community, serving on numerous boards and actively supporting local organizations.

“I am excited about the opportunity to serve on the Foundation board. I look forward to working with everyone to advance the mission of the foundation. I enjoy working with like-minded colleagues around the country who want to grow and support the sustainability of independent community pharmacy.”

The foundation expects to further strengthen its mission and grow its programs with the pair's addition to the Board, Executive Director Sonja Pagniano noted. “We are looking forward to leveraging their skill set, experience, and passion to support independent community pharmacy.”
